How’d he do that?

December 29, 2009

While I have a moment, I thought I’d share a couple of things that I like to do and how I do them.  The first shot is done with absolutely all studio strobe, but I thought that Heather’s mom’s perspective was really cool at the same time.  The second shows one of my favorite ways to shoot, mixing tungsten light and daylight for the background (bottom shot).  The top shot is just to show the contrast of using studio strobe as the main light.  On the third, I have one strobe illuminating the room, one strobe inside acting as a kicker light on Heather, and mom, holding an external flash with an umbrella (Heather’s main light).

Thank you so much for using me as an example! That’s very exciting to see :)
I am hoping to get a really good new camera soon so I can use more tips!

I feel inspired to learn studio someday after I get over my intense fear of lighting.

Serious work at play

December 18, 2009

Brady Campbell Photography is proud to announce a new addition to the team.  Drum roll please…….Tori Dettwiler, assistant extraordinaire!  She will be in charge of everything that I’m not, and we are confident that you will love her as much as we do.  Welcome Tori!  And for the record, we take our play time very seriously!

How come Tori gets a different outfit for every shot and you are just boring black? ;)

So, one of my pet peeves is when someone is too busy to blog for too long and then comes up with some brilliant apology, making up for it with some sweet images, links, or information.  Not assuming that anyone is really obsessed with following this neglected blog, I’ll just spout off a few things that have been going on in my life and the life of Brady Campbell Photography.  First of all, we are proud to have brought on a bright, new talent on board to help steer the ship.  Her name is Tori.  I know that it may throw a few people off when she answers the phone, but I assure you that she’s going to help us maintain our creativity and ability to connect with your family the way we did when we had more time.  Speaking of which, time….hmmmm.  I haven’t had much time with all the juggling of 4.5 kids (yes, we’re expecting another girl), building a new home, and running a business.  My life will never be dull again, and as it’s been so well put by my friends, I will have a “full” life.  It’s true.  I have so much to be thankful for.  One of the things I swore I would never do, is sacrifice in quality or service, no matter how life gets.  Well, I do have to apologize for one thing.  I have really fallen short at times with my turn-around time, due to growing demand and lack of staff, but I’m confident that we can turn that around and bring things back up to snuff.  I also want to thank all of the great people who have stuck it out with me through the thick and thin times, given me the greatest opportunity for success, in business and at home.  You know who you are.  Really, thank you.

I had a great time with this little five year old……all 1 hour of it, before he so rudely decided that he didn’t want to model anymore.  Just kidding, as all those kid photographers know how long they last for us.  Ha!

Nick & Tricia

August 10, 2009

Yesterday was a long, but extremely beautiful day.  The weather was a perfect 75 degrees with some light cloud cover….every wedding photographer’s dream.  From the moment that I met Nick and Tricia, I could tell they had a deep love and appreciation for eachother.  I’m grateful that they gave me the opportunity to take part in such a special day in their lives.

Not bad. :-) It is very easy to feel the essence of emotions from these shots. Good job Brady.

In His Element

July 24, 2009

Yesterday, I got the privilege of catching Alex in his home surroundings with the things he loves in life.  We started with a little rustic texture, moving onto a beautiful vette that Alex and his dad took the last 2 years restoring, and then onto Alex’s passion for the weedy waters of Hayden Lake.  We finished with a little pizza, making it, all in all, a pretty great day.

A day in the life…

July 16, 2009

On Tuesday, myself and 7 other photographers from around the area got together with a few models in Spokane for a shoot. We did a little catching up with everyone before hand at P.F. Changs. Once done there we packed up for an urban shoot for a few hours and then moved on to a big field not to far outside of downtown. We had plenty of laughs and a good time. Everyone shot great images but here are a few that Glenn and I got from the day.
